This USCCA course, which meets or exceeds the State of Maryland requirements, is designed for Maryland residents who want to purchase a handgun. Upon successful completion of the USCCA Basic Handgun course, students are certified to apply for the State of Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL).
This license is required to purchase a firearm in the state of Maryland.

Practical application is conducted using a semi-automatic handgun and a Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger (S.I.R.T) training pistol. All live-fire drills and range qualifications are first conducted on a virtual range using the S.I.R.T training pistol prior to the live-fire. A Ruger Mark IV, .22 caliber pistol is used for the live-fire portion of the course.
Classroom time 3 Hours and Range time 1 hour - Total 4 Hours
Pistol, ammunition, hearing and eye protection, and targets are provided for this class.
